Introduction

The coir fiber in coconut husk is held together by coco peat, which is a non-fibrous, spongy, lightweight, corky substance. The horticultural usage of Cocopeat wasn’t until the early 1990s, but even since then, it’s been in high demand. Cocopeat is the common term of these products over the world, however in the United States they go by the name Coco Coir, and in the Middle East they are called Coir Pith.

It uses to be a waste product from the extraction of coconut fiber, but now it’s considerable to be completely organic, natural and biodegradable. It is now produced as Cocopeat products during the process of removing coconut fiber.

Usage of Cocopeat in Industry

  • Because of its porous structure, cocopeat may soak up oil.
  • Used as an insulator for making fuse plugs and other devices of the sort.
  • When making particle boards.
  • For use in the dye industry.
